Ionel ISTOC (born 1971, Bacau), visual artist specialized in sculpture. In 1997 he graduated from the ”Nicolae Grigorescu” Institute of Fine Arts Bucharest, sculpture department. Between 2007 - 2013 he attended PhD courses, graduated with the thesis ”Space, image, text and territory”. He is a member of the Romanian Artists Union and since 2015 he is a lecturer at ”Ion Mincu” University of Architecture and Urbanism, Bucharest. Awards and scholarships: 2004 - Nomination for the ”Opera Prima” Award granted by the Anonymous Foundation; 2003 - Nomination for the ”Opera Prima” Award granted by the Anonymous Foundation; 2002 - 2nd prize at the exhibition ”Drawings of sculptors”; 2001 - 1st Prize at the Art Salon Bucharest 2001, Section ”Memory - Mitology – Model”; 2000 - Scholarship granted by the Romanian Artists Union; 1999 - Youth Award granted by the Romanian Artists Union.
