Darie DUP (b. 1959, Zlatna, Alba Iulia), sculptor. In 1983 graduated from the ”Nicolae Grigorescu” Institute of Fine Arts, Department of Sculpture, Professor Paul Vasilescu class. From 1992 he is a Professor at the University of Art, department of sculpture. Between the years 1995 – 2006 he was the head of the department of sculpture. He is Associate Professor and PhD at the University of Art, Bucharest, Department of Sculpture. In 1984 he received the Romanian Visual Artists Union’s Scholarship and in 2007 received the ”Generalitat Valenciana’s Scholarship”. In 1983 won the 1st Prize for sculpture at Studentfest, Sibiu and in 1988 won the Youth Award at the Biennale of Drawing, Arad. In 1992 won the Romanian Visual Artists' Union Prize for ambiental art. In 2004 he was been awarded with the Order of Cultural Merit in grade of Knight. In 2007 he has received the Excellence Award from the Romanian Visual Artists Union. He has attended at numerous individual and group exhibitions, art salons and symposiums. His art works are exhibited in private collections from: Holland, Germany, Belgium, Italy, France and United States.
