Mircea ROMAN (b. 1958, Baiut, Maramures), sculptor. In 1977 he graduated from the High School of Fine Arts, Baia Mare and in 1984 graduated from the ”Ion Andreescu” Academy of Fine Arts, Cluj. He is member of the Visual Artists' Union of Romania and President of the Sculpture Branch. In 2008 he won the Gold Medal awarded by Visual Artists' Union of Moldova, in 1988 won the ”Atelier 35” award for sculpture. In 1992 he won the Grand Prize at Osaka Triennial, and in 1993-1994 the ”Delphine Studio” scholarship in London. In 2000 he was awarded the Faithful Service Order in rank of Officer. He has attended at numerous individual and group exhibitions, national and international art salons.
